HACKNEY
A considered renovation that brings clarity, light, and contemporary living into a traditional period home.
The project balances old and new—retaining original features such as ornate cornices, fireplaces, and proportions, while introducing a clean, modern architectural language through a rear extension and refined interventions.
At the heart of the house, a light-filled kitchen and dining space is transformed by large roof lights and full-height glazing, drawing natural light deep into the plan and establishing a seamless connection to the garden.
A rich and cohesive material palette runs throughout—warm timber flooring, dark stained joinery, and brass details provide contrast and depth, while bespoke insertions, including joinery and built-in storage, bring functional clarity to each space.

In the original rooms, colour and detail are used with restraint but intention—deep-toned joinery, textured finishes, and carefully curated furniture add character without competing with the architectural heritage.
The result is a home that feels both grounded and contemporary—where light, material, and detail work together to create spaces that are calm, elevated, and distinctly lived-in.
